Mike,

There is definitely a psychological advantage to wearing a full cap. I personally experienced it, and others have confirmed this as well. I will be going into more detail on the subject of the psychology of wearing hair in general and specifically wearing a full cap sometime in the future.

As for the vids, the main objective will be to show everyone that you can live a normal life and that you don't have to constantly worry while wearing hair, but I will be going over some tips, and that will include solving some of the issues that do pop up from time to time.

I don't think it is necessary for most people to leave the unit to let their scalp rest, but I do get some irritation from time to time and leaving the unit detached for a day or two allows it to heal up. It also feels good to go without hair for awhile. I haven't worn all week and I am sitting here now with the air conditioning blowing across my scalp and it feels gooooooood! Especially here in Florida in the summer when the heat and humidity are terrible.

Thanks for the comment!

Ya, JRob. I think realistically you are right and it will be best to start with a partial. But I think there is a psychologically appealing aspect of a full cap. You get to go "all in". No trying to salvage the remnants of a once great head of hair, etc. ;) You almost get to start again from scratch.

So in addition to not having to worry about blending, the full cap definitely seems appealing, and it's good to see guys like you blazing the trail.

Again, I am looking forward to seeing the vids. I hope you can focus not just on how great a full cap can look (we've seen the pics - we know), but also the kinds of things that can go wrong on bad days.

eg. nape issues, tangling, lace showing, the temples issues you talk about, scalp irritations, etc.

I also wonder about duration of wear, and wearing a full cap essentially 24/7. I noticed you once saying you take some nights off. I wonder if this is a necessity of any added discomfort or hassle associated with full caps.

Thanks again.

Thanks Cameron.

That is one of my main goals with the YouTube channel- to upload videos of how the hair behaves in everyday situations. I also want to do some spur of the moment interviews with people on the street. I get quite a few people complimenting me on my mohawk and sometimes I tell them that it isn't real just to see how they react. I think it will be cool to let people see how shocked someone is after they find out that they just complimented you on your hair when it isn't actually "your" hair. People are pretty amazed.

This is gonna be fun!

I think adding a "lifestyles" section is a great idea! It'd be good to see how the system fares after a workout, a swim, etc. and how it looks while running or with wind blowing against it (like if you were on a roller coaster or in a convertible).

Best of luck with this project!

Hey Mike,

Although I would probably suggest starting with a partial unit if your side and back hair are thick enough, don't let anyone tell you that a full cap isn't a viable option. Unfortunately there are a lot of people (even some who are in the business) who still give outdated, negative advice about full caps. Most people who have switched to a full cap are extremely happy with their decision and do not regret it for a second. Of course, if you try it and find that it isn't for you all you have to do is let your natural hair grow out and switch to a partial unit.

Hopefully my upcoming DVD along with the new YouTube channel will help to shed some light on the truth about wearing a full cap. Stay tuned.....I have LOTS more cool stuff in the works!

Awesome idea! I'm 28 now and looking more and more at going with a piece in the next year or two. Though I still have plenty of hair on the sides, I'm strongly considering a full cap or almost full cap just on the basis that it will allow me to avoid the usual transition/matching and temple recession problems. Some of the pics of your pieces (as well as others on Hair Direct), give me the impression full cap is really a more convincing way to go. I look forward to your videos and seeing a bit more of just how much maintenance this approach requires, and what sorts of issues a wearer will encounter along the way. Thanks for the great blog/book. Keep it all coming.
